Penalities for late work on a per quarter basis

One class – 10% of assessment grade
Two classes – 25%
Three classes – 40%
Four or more classes – grade F or 55%
Work not handed in – 0%
Student
Absences
Missed assignments: Students
should request to make up missed work on the day they return to
class. Unless there are special circumstances, the assignment will
be due the following class. Generally, students will have one day
for each day absent to hand in missed assignments.
Missed test or
quiz: If a student is absent on the day of a test or
quiz, students should request to schedule a time to make up the
missed test or quiz on the day they return to class. If the student
fails to do this, or if they fail to come to the rescheduled
test or quiz, they will receive no credit.
Help
Sessions and Time Management
Students can request extra
help outside of class to prepare for a test or complete a major assignment,
if they feel they need it. As students will know the dates and deadlines
well in advance, the request for help should be done in a timely
manner and NOT only the day before the test date or project deadline.
Students will be reminded in class to manage their time wisely and
not procrastinate.
Retaking
Tests and Redoing Assignments
Students are encouraged
to do their best work while preparing for tests and completing major
assignments. Students should understand what is expected through
classroom discussions and reviews for tests, and grading rubrics
for major assignments. However, if students are not clear, they should
ask questions immediately. There will be NO opportunity to retake
tests or redo assignments.
Tardiness
Students will be marked
tardy if they arrive in class after the time. You are absent, if
you arrive 20 minutes late to class. Each tardy after the first one
will reduce your final quarter grade by 1%. You are considered tardy,
if you have to go to the office to get an absence slip.
Retrieving material from lockers, Forgetting
material at home
If you are required to go
to your locker to retrieve material during the class or forget your
material at home, this will be recorded. Your final grade is reduced
by 1% for every two times this happens.
