Suddenly the lights went out. I was panicked and confused because I was not expecting the lights to go out. I supposed a devil would kill me or a murderer would come and attack me. I felt so scared and afraid, so I cried several minutes or more. I thought to sleep because it was so dark and I felt so afraid. When I ran to my room, I thought a devil or killers were hiding somewhere and then they would kill me. So I ran faster and faster to my room and hid in my bed.

The lights went out because I was using almost all of the house’s electric lights. I never realized how the electric lights went out. I couldn’t think about it because I was so panicked and I was just 4 years old. It was the Emperor’s Birthday and in Japan we celebrate with fireworks in the evening at 7p.m. So my father, my mother and my sister were on top of the mountain, because they can see the fireworks well from the top of the mountain. I just come from the mountain because I felt so bored and sleepy. However, my father, my mother and my sister were not coming back yet because I came back so early. On the outside, I heard the sound of fireworks every second, so sometimes I was not feeling so afraid and scared because I was able to think there were a lot of people around my house. Also I tried to think of a funny cartoon scene to forget. Then, " What happened? " "I don’t know, maybe he is sleeping." I heard someone’s voice that I thought was my father’s. I ran to the door. I explained to them that the lights went out. Suddenly, they told me the power failed. Father turned on the breaker and soon, all the lights were coming on. At the same time they were laughing at my story.
