The houses were really
nice to know about. I liked how they taught us about the way people
lived back then. I also learned about the school system. I learned
about how hard there life styles were. I also learned about the
bathrooms. By Alieu

Going down the shaft was
fun because we told everybody to switch their lights off. When we got
down to the mine we were only about 100 meters down underground. In the
old days
when the miners got off the shifts, they whistled to tell the
coordinator
to bring the shaft up for another 40 miners in about a three meter
shaft.
As we were going through the mine, it felt like we were miners, having
to
follow guidelines. By Kyle

What I learnt from mine tour is those deep
shafts
mines are holes that go down into the ground. I also learnt that it
actually
took nine hours to make a one meter hole on the rock. By Luc

In science I learned how
to calculate the speed of a roller coaster; this was my favorite thing
that I learned. In English I learned the lifestyle of the miners back
then. In social studies I learned how the miners mined in the mine, I
thought that was quite cool. By Joe

I learned that before they
got an electric drill it took eight hours for a person to drill a hole
only 1 meter deep into the side of the mine. But when they finally got
the electric drill it got the time down to about 5 min. for one man to
drill a 1 meter hole. By Justin
