BACK to SCHOOL POETRY!

Back to School
By Maura and Katinka

Parents who don’t work
are lonely and sad
Those who do, feel relieved and glad
Some feel slightly annoyed going back to their job
Others try to clean their house
so their kid won’t be a slob.

We hope we go to Durban,
So we can go surfin’.
Growing up, we’re in eighth grade.
School is hard work,
why don’t we get paid?

Back to school
Vacation’s up
No more sleeping in
Nor playing with your pup.

Now’s the time to get it together
Buying supplies
Your bag’s not a feather.

There’s the bell
It’s time for break
It’s only ten minutes
Don’t be late!

The bus arrives at my gate,
I’m still half asleep,
The ugly bus can wait
I have my breakfast to eat.

I walk out to the bus,
It’s freezing cold,
I try to find a seat,
They’re covered in mold.

I get to school
Yippee, Horaay!
I’m being sarcastic,
I’ve dreaded this day.

Lucky to be back in school
Unless we get homework
Need more lunch time
Catch me if you can
High school is coming

I must be a fool
We spend our cash
On our writing tool
It is too cold to swim in the pool
That’s why we want to go back to school!

Too much homework
Everybody’s paying attention
Ask lots of question
Come and learn
Heavy bags are back
Everyone’s complaining
Running from class to class
School is back!

Buying the food
Ready for class
Eating the food
Almost over
Knowing class is next

Once again we have returned,
Never relaxing, but rising higher.
Concentrating on what we’ve learned,
Earning the grade we desire.

Acquiring all of our new supplies
Gaining more responsibilities,
And even though this we despise
I have to learn to dot my I’s and cross my T’s
Now we rise to become wise.

Summer’s over
Camping’s done
Home again to school
Over and
Over, day after day
Let’s make this school year #1.

Students learn to cooperate
Can resolve conflict
Homework is not fun
Out of school in nine months
Opening your books, starting to study
Lunch is the best part of the day.

Loving food
Under the umbrella
Not thinking about work
Chewing on our food
Having lots of fun
