The Exciting Finals “Finally we are in the tournament finals.” That’s what my friend Chunky said on February 20,1997 after we won the semi-finals of the badminton tournament. On that day Chunky and I were so happy because tomorrow we were going to play the finals. I was feeling so nervous on that day. Finally the day came and we went to the school playground earlier than any other persons. Chunky and I were warming up a little bit when two guys came which were taller, bigger, and stronger than us. Later in the hour we came to know they were our opponents. We were shocked that they could be our opponents. This tournament was for people under 13 and they didn’t look like they were under 13.
The match began after fifteen minutes or so. In the beginning we
were losing a bit but at last we did come back in the match. It was
14 – 13 in their favor when I thought we were probably going to lose.
After a minute the score was 14 all. So the game moved to 17 points instead
of 15 points. Then it was our serve. If we didn’t win this
time we were going to lose. Chunky served and we got one point.
So the score then was 16 –15 in our favor. Then Chunky served again
and after some struggle we won that point and won that tournament.
