My Little Sister
When I was little I always wanted to
have a sister or a brother. (I don’t know why.) Although I was little I
liked babies and I was lonely. So, I begged my mom and dad to make me a
sister or a brother.
When I was about 9 years old, my mom and dad suddenly went to a hospital
with me looking anxiously. I didn’t know what is going on. My mom and dad
went into a doctor’s room and came out with serious faces, but they didn’t
say anything to me about it. I was worried.
About a week later, my mom called me
and said something that made me very happy. She said, “You will going to
have a sister or a brother.” I was so happy that I hugged my mom tightly.
As I was in Pakistan with my parents, we had to come back to Korea,
because my mom wanted to give a birth to a baby in our hometown. Until
my sister was born, I thought about many things of having a baby by watching
my mom. I concluded that having a baby is really an amazing thing, and
being one with a baby and a mom – as a baby is in his/her mom’s stomach
– is really hard.
On 1994 June 27th, there was a miracle
in the hospital. My sister was born. The person whom I really wanted to
see and really loved came to the window carried by a nurse and looked at
me with her clear eyes. Finally I had a sister! I was so excited. Now there
were four people in our family. My aunt made a name for my sister. It was
Su-min Khang. I thought this was a name for a baby, but I liked it. After
Su-min came to our house there was always laughter in our house. Our family
was so happy everyday by just looking at Su-min. I loved her very much.
I always changed her diaper, and gave her milk everyday. I played with
her, and helped her walking, too.
Su-min is 7 years old now. Although
she grew up she still looks like a little baby to me. S sometimes I’m worried
about her, because she is so little. If my dad retires from his company,
and there is nobody to earn money I’ll have to earn money and take care
of Su-min. I’ll have to be responsible for Su-min’s education problem.
Anyway, I love her very much, and I’m very happy to have a sister, eventhough
she came out a little late.
